The water amusement facilities are showcasing their full potential, with the heat drawing crowds to the parks

Recently, the “steaming and grilling mode” with temperatures soaring above 35°C has been activated across the nation. Some individuals have devised creative ways to beat the heat, such as lounging in bathtubs filled with ice cubes or staying in air-conditioned rooms. Meanwhile, others are flocking to water parks, creating a wave of excitement. The rising temperatures have led to a surge in visitors to water parks and rafting scenic spots. The water amusement facilities are bustling with activity, and the high temperatures are encouraging more people to enjoy the parks. The tourism industry in popular coastal cities has seen a boom, with beach hotels near major beaches becoming highly sought after. Nearly 40 percent of tourists are drawn to swimming pools, artificial waves, water slides, and other entertainment facilities, while about 2 percent prefer terrain-based drifting areas like canyons and rivers. Some adventurous souls are eager to take on extreme water sports such as diving and surfing.

Most visitors to water parks and rafting areas seeking relief from the summer heat are aged 16-30, making up over 60% of the crowd. They are young, energetic, and eager to try new experiences, embracing challenges with enthusiasm. The rafting river scenic areas in water parks are generally thrilling, making them a standard feature of water amusement facilities and a favourite among young people.

Tourists from the Yangtze River Delta region are particularly fond of water activities. The recent high temperatures have spurred residents of the Yangtze River Delta to visit major water parks and rafting scenic spots. Cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Nanjing are popular destinations for water games. Residents of Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, and other areas are also keen on water activities to cool off.

Since June this year, the number of people heading to domestic coastal cities for summer vacations has increased by 1.2 times compared to the same period last year. The Yangtze River Delta region, affected by the high temperatures, is a major source of tourists “escaping” to seaside cities. Departure cities include Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, and Suzhou, while Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Chengdu have also made it to the top ten list. Popular beaches such as Shanghai Fengxian Bihaijinsha, Gulangyu Beach, Dadonghai Beach, Sanya Yalong Bay Beach, Qingdao’s First Beach, Dalian Xinghai Bay Beach, Weihai International Bathing Beach, Sunlight Bathing Field, Zhoushan Zhujiajian Beach, and Seaside Fujian Cowboy Gang are teeming with tourists this summer, ranking among the top ten most popular beaches in China. Parent-child families remain the primary group of seaside vacation tourists, with products featuring private beaches and children’s pools gaining popularity this summer.
